GET ACTIVE - GET FIT - HAVE FUN
The Mocc Walk is a free walking challenge intended to increase awareness about diabetes and support physical activity amongst Indigenous women and their families across Ontario. It encourages everyone to “get active ∙ get fit ∙ have fun”. Whether it is exercising in your living room or walking around the block, participants are encouraged to get active and record the number of minutes spent exercising/walking. Minutes are submitted to ONWA for the chance at winning some cool prizes!

THUNDER BAY SCHOOL PARTICIPATION
New this year, the Mocc Walk is holding a pilot project Classroom Challenge in Thunder Bay! This initiative is meant to encourage youth exercise and diabetes awareness. Students participate in the Mocc Walk as a class to be entered into a draw to win a cultural activity.

Every week the teacher will gather and submit combined student exercise minutes for their class (TIP: To help keep track of your time we have created a Mocc Walk 2021 Exercise Tracker to help!)
At the end of the Mocc Walk, all registered classes will be entered into the draw for the Classroom Challenge prize
A cultural craft / activity
TIP: Student and teacher can register in the main Mocc Walk competition for a chance to win other prizes

Every week during the Mocc Walk participate in the Weekly Challenge. At the end of each week, three (3) winners will be drawn from participants of that week's challenge.

At the end of the Mocc Walk, all participants from each Direction (East, South, West, and North) will be entered into a draw with to win one of the three (3) prizes. Each Direction will have a draw for the three (3) prizes, for a total of twelve (12) prizes total.

How long is the Mocc Walk?
Begins: 12:01 AM EST on Saturday, May 1st, 2021
Ends: 11:59 PM EST on Wednesday, June 30th, 2021
“I registered for the Mocc Walk but I did it late, am I still registered?”
Yes – There is no registration deadline, you can join and participate starting at any point during the Mocc Walk.
Where is the Mocc Walk?
All across Ontario – anywhere you can walk or exercise.
Who can participate?
All residents of Ontario - everyone! Elders, adults, youth and children!
Can I participate as a part of a team?
At this time, we are only accepting individual registrations due to the current government mandate of social distancing for safety due to COVID-19.
However, we encourage you to make your own social distanced teams and groups and challenge each other. Encourage your family and friends to join you virtually.

Do I have to walk to participate?
No, any type of exercise will do – garden or rake outside, watch and follow along a YouTube exercise video, walk up and down stairs, jump rope, etc. You can exercise standing up, sitting down, as long you are exercising! Be creative!
When should I log my exercise time?
Once a week – Mocc Walk weeks run from Saturday to Friday. Friday’s are a great time to log your time!

How do I win prizes?
Participate in Weekly Challenges to be entered into weekly draw
Participate in Mocc Walk – all participants are entered into the final draws for their regions in Ontario (Northern, Southern, Eastern, Western) and for the Grand Prize
THUNDER BAY ONLY – Participate in the Classroom Challenge to be entered into a final draw
