World Diabetes Day: Diabetes Teachings with Joseph Pitawanakwat from the Creators Garden

Monday November 14, 2022

6:00pm-8:00pm EST

Watch live on ONWA's Facebook or register now at: https://bit.ly/3SUi6ms

Please join ONWA’s Indigenous Diabetes Program in recognizing World Diabetes Day. Diabetes is overrepresented in our Indigenous Communities across the province. Indigenous women and their families are at a high risk of developing diabetes during their lifecycle. Learning about diabetes prevention techniques help to reduce your risk of developing diabetes or reduce the risk of diabetic complications.

We are excited to partner with Joseph Pitawanakwat from the Creators Garden who will be sharing his knowledge about diabetes and how to use plants as medicine for diabetes prevention or management. Joseph is an Anishinaabe learner & educator dedicated to learning and teaching about the uses of hundreds of plants from Canada's Great Lakes region. He focuses on optimizing human health using mainly medicinal plants but also through various other traditional practices.

Move Your Water Wednesdays

Join us for any or all of the four family friendly workout sessions as we honour our bodies through movement. Exercise is a great way to prevent the development of type 2 diabetes or to manage the complications of diabetes. Each week will be a different workout with a chance to win some great attendance prizes!
