Celebrating International Inuit Day Through the Power of Story and Culture
Thunder Bay, ON – On International Inuit Day, the Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA) celebrates the leadership, resilience and voices of Inuit women and their families.
ONWA stands in solidarity with all Inuit women recognizing their contributions to their families, communities, culture and the land, while acknowledging the systemic inequities and barriers they continue to face. Upholding and amplifying Inuit women’s rights today and everyday is a priority toward lasting reconciliation.
As we celebrate Inuit women, we honour their stories, leadership, and cultural teachings and encourage all Canadians to listen, learn, and stand alongside them.
